Rayan Felix Coutinho is from Mumbai, . He has earned his J.D. in May 2005 and his Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) in August 2005 from the University of Toledo, Ohio. He has earned his Bachelor of Engineering (Production / Manufacturing Engineering) from the University of Mumbai, India. Mr. Coutinho has been associated with Wood & Lamping, LLP since 2004. Mr. Coutinho is part of the following groups at Wood & Lamping LLP: Business; Zoning & Public Sector; Employment & Labor; and Litigation.
As part of the Business Group, Mr. Coutinho diligently serves various types of entities, including publicly and privately held companies, from start-ups to established businesses. He can help you identify and understand the legal strengths and weaknesses of your business while assisting you in forming and reaching your personal and professional goals. Business services offered include strategy analysis, business acquisitions, preparation and review of contracts, strategies and plans for protecting intellectual property such as patents, copyright, trademarks, and trade secrets, evaluation of liability issues, advice on day-to-day business operations, maintenance and updating of minute books, transition planning, establishment of ownership programs for key employees such as stock incentives and phantom stock plans, filing of liens for financed sales of products, negotiation of real estate and equipment leases and acquisitions, acquisition and sale of franchises, estate planning, negotiation of the sale of a business (both internal and external), creation of buy-sell, operating and partnership agreements, assistance in employment issues such as employment agreements, policies, manuals, terminations and discipline of employees and litigation including collection and other. Mr. Coutinho also handles intellectual property matters such as trademark, copyright and licensing of technology.
Mr. Coutinho also assists our health care attorneys in technology and intellectual property issues, particularly in the areas of trademarks, software acquisition and licensing for hospitals, clinics and other other health care providers.
As part of the Zoning & Public Sector Group, Mr. Coutinho assists the legal counsel for various communities such as the City of Springdale, the City of Mason, Village of Terrace Park, Symmes Township, Village of Green Hills, and the City of Madeira.
Mr. Coutinho is also actively involved and assists the lead attorneys in various matters of the Employment & Labor and Litigation Groups.
Dr. Coutinho is the author of “Optimization of Three-Dimensional Surface Topography in Hard Turning.” He has also published scientific articles related to engineering in international publications such as the Journal of Machining Science and Technology, and the Annals of the International CIRP Design Seminar. He is the editor of “Industani” - a legal e-newsletter that is circulated among the Indian community around the world with a goal to inform them about the legal system and laws of the . Mr. Coutinho also publishes a monthly article in areas of interest to manufacturing engineers in the Queen City Bulletin, a publication of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Chapter 21 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
